Our class came up with great discussion topics for the unit on People in Societies. Many different ideas were discussed about the early years of the United States all the way up to the civil right acts. The students did a great job coming to class prepared and made great discussion questions on the different topics during this stretch of time period.
Over the next few weeks, the students will dive into the Geography of the United States. Maps, time lines, etc. will be presented to the students to visually show the expansion of the early settlers and how it has shaped our country today. Colonization, westward expansion, immigration and advances in transportation are among the topics that will be discussed. The students will be asked to describe their feelings on westward expansion and transportation in a group discussion format. Come prepared!!!!!
